Karen Shay, MA, RP

I’m Karen Shay, a registered psychotherapist based in Toronto, ON. I work with adults who are navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, or simply looking to understand themselves more deeply.

My approach is conversational, collaborative, and insight-oriented. I’m here to help you slow down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and move forward with more clarity and self-trust. My background includes a Master’s in Art Therapy from New York University. While I don’t always use art in sessions, my training continues to shape the way I listen for symbolism, metaphor, and the parts of your story that you haven’t found words for yet.

I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, self-doubt, grief, ADHD, addictions, or just a vague sense of “stuckness.” You don’t need a diagnosis to work with me. You just need a willingness to show up and explore.

Outside of the therapy room, I practice yoga, paint my nails in rotating colours, and hang out with my cat, who has a talent for reminding me when it’s time to rest.

I believe that therapy should feel grounded and real. No performance. No pressure. Just space to be curious about who you are and what you need.
